Reflection 4(techno)

            Another intriguing meeting was held on July 08, 2014 Tuesday at exactly 8:00am in the morning. I really had a hard time in waking up early in the morning I feel like I want to sleep for a whole day and no will disturb me. In that day I came early in the school and then my classmate bought some foods to eat because last time they came late in the school.

            Our professor has discussed us about the Technopreneurship Ecosystem, if we talk about ecosystem what usually come up in our minds? As we tackle the term ecosystem we are thinking about process or a system. So as a technopreneurship they should have the resources to learn and to develop. The most important thing as a human is to know what he or she wants to achieve. The law of attraction that develops in our minds through the things that we mostly want to achieve. In technopreneurship we have this that was called HELF. 

           To be a successful researcher, developer and a financer you should have these factors to develop. First let me discuss the letter H that stands for Human resource.

HUMAN RESOURCE

            The role of human resource management (HRM) in the implementation and achievement of strategic management and subsequently improve human capabilities (Barney, 1991, Barney & Wright, 1998). Strategic management of human resource definitely gives advantage to many people. Firstly the development and improvement of core competitive and competencies advantage and secondly the integration between the organization’s strategy and Human Resource strategy in achieving of profit and growth. Meanwhile, the technical and traditional Human Resource are concerned with the organizing role and functions, recruitment, performance measurement, selection, planning, training and development the administration of indemnification and benefits. However it involves implementing and designing groups of internally consistent practices and policies which ensure that an organization’s human capital contributes to the fulfillment of its business goals. Planning is one of the valuable techniques if we try to enter in the business world if we fail to have those techniques then there will be possibilities that your market will pull down. Training and development and the factors affecting it, as it is this concept new to developing countries, which include Jordan, so it is subjected to the study of  the field gives more importance especially in light of the circumstances and variables  technological and economic The multi-policy, witnessed by the Jordanian public sector, and  which require the adoption of the concept of HR planning and training and development from  the perspective of application to keep up with the rapid environmental changes.

            Next is the E that stands for Environment Component as being a part of this modern world especially to those students who are taking IT courses like me we have to think for new and unique ideas. All of the things that exist nowadays have started at first as an idea that was being plan, search, examine until incubated and was release. Like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates they have started from ideas until they became successful person in our era.

            Third one is L that stands for Laws and Policies. Laws are the ones who discipline people in our society that commands us to do things righteously. Society is based on rules and laws. It could not function if individuals were free to do whatever they wanted. From hierarchy society to modern society, laws are one of the most significant components to operate countries. However, I can’t totally support the proposal that individuals should give up all the freedoms to follow laws, even though I agreed that laws’ irreplaceable functions for society and the reasons are the inextricable bond between laws and ethics and the collision between rules and freedoms. Firstly, without laws, human society should be operated by spontaneous self-discipline, which is a relatively weak power compared with laws. In this hypothetical society, there is no organizations can supervise citizens’ behavior and punish unmoral one. Therefore, some citizens’, who don’t comply self-discipline, could exploit other people to satisfy themselves, and the world will be leaded into chaos. Hence, only ethics are implemented by authorities, which, in other words, to formulate laws to administrate society, can humans enjoy harmony. Secondly, there are numerous regulations which erode human rights to achieve government goals.

            Fourth is F that stands for Financial, of course in every business money has the very big rule. A company will not run without financial support especially in investing a business. Finance is the solution that assists in the formation of new businesses, and allows businesses to take advantage of opportunities to grow, employ local workers and in turn support other businesses and local, state and federal government through the remittance of income taxes. The strategic use of financial instruments, such as loans and investments, is key to the success of every business. Financial trends also define the state of the economy on a global level, so central banks can plan appropriate monetary policies.

We have also discussed about the Business model on how company creates value for itself while delivering products or services for customer. What I like in the discussion is that it gives us the knowledge about business matters. It able us to learn and know the importance and advantages of making up to business. We may have an opportunity in marketing staff which can be use in near future. Being knowledgeable enough will bring us to a successful business venture. Firstly innovate your ideas, trigger the event, implementing the product and then slowly it may grow. But one also of the things that I dislike the most is not every one of us knows how to handle business. Some people don’t have the passion to pursue business. Still at the end we have our own passion that we want to achieve and it only depends on how people deal with it.

reflection (FTS-5th meeting)

It July 16, 2014 we had our fifth meeting for our Filed Trip and Seminars. We have able to discuss about the final expenses for our plane tickets which cost seven thousand pesos but it’s not yet the final price it may still have to lessen the expenses if we can acquire promos. It was also announced about our interpersonal skills and for our minor activity which is part of our subject.

Reflection 3 (techno)

            I wake up in the morning feeling so good and prepared myself for my class because it will start eight in the morning. It was July 24, 2014 the third meeting for our subject elective 1. After preparing all the things that I need, I leave the house at exactly 07:45 in the morning and waited the jeep to arrive. It is indeed a hustle and time consuming in waiting the jeep because many student are also waiting and of course I can earn advantage compare to them because I’m flexible in every way but nah just kidding. Fortunately I came in the school early and our professor doesn’t yet arrive. It’s already eight o’clock in the morning and we have entered in our room. As expected many were late and they were given a punishment to sing in front of us. But our professor have decided to change the punishment of coming in the school late because he observed that in spite of giving punishment to us many students are still late which is not a good  action for us student. Then he have waited all of my classmates to arrive to announce the changes regarding with the punishment and it is to fed all of our tommy if someone is coming late in the class, many were surprised because of the announcement and still many were agreed for the new rules and it is expected that on the next meeting many students will come early in the morning and of course myself. Many were afraid to take all the charges of feeding us because it will really consume a big amount of money and of course time.

            Then we have started our discussion and our professor gives us the slides about being a good technopreneur and all the advantages of becoming a technopreneur. He also again discussed the line “think outside the box”. Imagine you would be living in an invisible atmosphere that envelops your whole body, which is symbolic for the box you are living in the box you will have to abandon when trying to think outside the box. Wherever you go the atmosphere surrounds you and protects you from the “real” reality, which is so complex that it would flood your sensory organs with masses of information that your brain couldn’t handle, if not filtered. All the information that tries to traverse your protective atmosphere will be filtered and selected and only the most important ones are being consciously recognized. The filter stands figuratively for your sub consciousness that filters all the information and erases or transforms them if necessary, dependently of your experiences, mindsets, attitudes opinions and the way you look at things in general. We have to think critically in order for us to have proper way of organizing ourselves. Critical thinking is a necessity of any professional or student. This is the human ability to think outside the parameters of normal everyday problem solving. Thinking another option that may help an individual to choose for what they want to achieve. Although problem solving is part of the critical thinking process, people are not born with this particular skill. People must be taught how to use it and be able to practice it in context of real life situations. Higher education academics are used to teach and promote this skill. To define what constitutes the decision-making process one must ask themselves what critical thinking is.   One must understand that Kurland (2000), “critical thinking enables us to recognize a wide range of subjective analyses of otherwise objective data, and to evaluate how well each analysis might meet our needs. Facts may be facts, but how we interpret them may vary”. Like as student we tend to decide for our own self for what may be good or bad to us. College students must be able to examine information and determine what part of that information is relevant and what information is purely opinion. Critical thinking is not easily defined but what is known about its presence is that it influences a higher level of thinking. People who use critical thinking skills evaluate and identify information to guide their decision making. Recent interpretations suggests that critical thinking is, regarded as being intellectually engaged, skillful, and responsible thinking that facilitates good judgment. Critical thinking requires the application of assumptions, knowledge, competence, and the ability to challenge the individuals own thinking. Critical thinking skills require self-correction, monitoring to judge the reasonableness of thinking, and reflexivity (Behar-Horenstein, 2011). Critical thinking is a desired skill in real-world application which will really help of each one of us if we just know how to think properly. Thinking outside the box is like changing yourself to the things that you always tend to do. If you think that things won’t work out properly in the same place then try to change for new and it may succeed your own goals as we tend to discover new things. That’s one of the things that I like the most in discussing lectures that teaches us the lesson to achieve our own goals in our life. That lesson that mark our minds to stay strong and positive to all the obstacles that may come in our way. Let’s use our skills in the good way and make changes for a new chapter of our life.

           

            For almost four hours of talking, there are some aspects that I may like most and like least. Then one of the activities that I like is the discussion of our Professor about the situation of our society. During the activity we were able to divide into three groups and given three pictures that is connected with what is really happening around the globe not only in our country but also to the different places. The first group were given the first picture is all about the father with his daughter who doesn’t have any job and experiencing poverty. So our professor said to imagine our self in the situation and think the solution to the problem and to think like a technopreneur. For me, if I will be in that situation where I am the father I would greatly find ways to solve my problem especially that they don’t have job. Life would be so hard if no one will sustain the needs of the family. There are many ways to find solution to the problem of being unemployed if you’re determined to.       Poverty was and still is the biggest and the most serious killer in the world. Many people don’t die because of illness like AIDS and Malaria but because of the fact that they are so poor that they can’t survive. Poverty is a real problem, which needs an immediate solution. As a technopreneur we should think resolution that will fix their problem. People, who die of hunger, lack the money to buy enough food so they become less able to work, which is another condition of poverty. Poverty hits children the hardest. They need to grow up healthy but a lot of them don’t have this possibility. The worst thing is that hunger doesn’t affect only children’s’ health, but also their development in every way- emotional, physical and spiritual. Children are the future of our planet, so we can’t let them die. They should have money for food and education, because later they will be able to do something to help their country and the Earth. Many children want to develop themselves but unfortunately
they don’t have this opportunity. And it is not fair because all of us should have equal rights and a level playing field. It’s not the fault of the children to be in that situation because they don’t know what is really happening and they are too innocent to see reality. Parents are the ones who are responsible of taking care of their children but what happens is that they became unemployed which means they cannot support their children’s needs. Some days ago I was able to read this line of mother Teresa “We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty.” I really like that quote because it shows a real situation of poverty. Mother Teresa’s words make us think over this and realize that hungry people don’t need only food and a safe place to live, but also they need to see that they are loved. The fate of these people is so sad. They are not interested in having luxury things- jewels, fancy clothes, big houses or expensive cars. All that they want is to have health and not to see how their closest are dying every day because of hunger. They want to have better conditions to live and it is the only thing that can make these people happy. In my opinion we can give them happiness. I realize that it cannot happen for one day, or one week because supplying food and immunizations demand more time but it is possible to happen. If we stop poverty, we will save many peoples’ lives. Life is so hard and if we don’t help these people, who will do that? Let’s support this cause, because this is the way that we can see smiles on children’s’ faces and we can make some children’s’ dreams come true. Poverty destroys many children’s’ dreams and it is time to say stop. It is time to integrate with each other for one cause because these people need us, it is time to show that we have golden hearts and we really understand how serious the problem with hunger is and it is time to be people and to show that we care not only for ourselves, but also for others in our planet. So let’s help before it is too late and let’s show these people that they are not alone and somebody somewhere cares about them. But as we put our situation to those people how could we help them by thinking like an entrepreneur. There are solutions if people are just determined enough to find ways I know it would not be easy and it will take a long time to process and developed. We varies in different situation if you have a small amount of money be wise in using it, use it as a capital for a small business it may be a small store or anything that would fit in your budget. Starting for a small business is a helpful thing to do. I f you are in the province you can start with planting vegetables and fruits so that you can sell it and earn money. Just open our eyes to the possible solution to our problem. It is already given by GOD it’s just that we should also learn how to take advantage of those.

            The second picture is the fresh graduates who encounter difficulties with their physical appearance as they find job. Personality and appearance has a big percentage in applying job. They will compete with different people it’s like selling your skills to them on how productive you are in the fields you’re applying for. We are living in a modern society in which many people care more about their appearance. There are many boutiques, fashion shops served for young people. It is very good if you have good appearance, in my opinion you should pay enough attention to your appearance because values inside your body are the most important things.
In the past decades, when people just only care about their first and essential demand that is food, nowadays, when people feel satisfied with the first demand, they are looking for the others to make them feel happy and pleased. Someone like shopping, playing football, tennis or going to the gym these will make people feel more confident and help them work diligently and more effectively. Moreover, there are a lot of jobs that require perfect appearance, for example: compere, actor and actress, receptionist, marketing assistant... People do these jobs must have perfect appearance because they communicate much with others and often appear on TV or other kinds of media. Although your abilities and your skills are the key to succeed, but appearance play a very important role in your life. If you have a good appearance, you easily communicate with others and that makes your work more influent. In a job interview or meeting with a customer, first impression is very grand, even it would be everything. The interviewee will judge you through your appearance first or if you are staff of a company you will be your company's representative talking with client. Nowadays, some people concentrate too much on their appearance, that is not necessary, even just a waste of time. You do not have to wear like a superstar while you just normally do a job not like a star. Most importantly, you must learn how to get dressed and behave in each situation in your life. The solution for that is to slowly adopt in the new environment and try to change you for the better. The second option is to enter outsourcing or online business and use your skills so that many people or client will appreciate your work. By that your hardships or your dedication to your work will be appreciated.

            Third is the picture about the protesting employees who are currently employed but not satisfied because of the minimum wage or even lower than minimum wage they receive. One day I was able to buy foods to a small store then when I order some foods I heard the employees talking about their salary the employee one said to the employee two “Mahala na sa mga pamaliton ron oi!” and then the employee two answered “Sweldo namay barato ron!”.  When I heard them talking I realized something about how hard they been through and even though how small they earn everyday they still continue working on that store. Maybe it only mean that finding another job will not be also easy and just stay working  even they receive small wages. We can see it in the news those people who have rallies and protest regarding with their problem in increasing their wages or any issues that can affect peolpe. They tend to fight for their rights society exists because we, the people, believe in unity and socialism come together to run the society under some value systems and conditions. Societies running on the lines of value systems and righteousness, with ethics holding sublime importance are called Civil Societies. Rule of law and proclamation of civil rights are the limbs of the society, without which the substantiality of the former can’t even be imagined. If there are certain duties and moral values assigned for the people to refuse to give then there are also some liberties & rights that claim the supremacy of human conscience in running of the social order. When we talk of the Right to Protest, we talk of showing disapproval for some anomalies & ambiguities in the socio-political structure-this disapproval is sanctified in the form of ‘peaceful’ protests or mass congregations that aim to put forward mass opinion and feedback to the controllers of the state. By doing such thing they can express their emotions of how hard they feel they are not only one who can be affected also their children since they cannot afford to sustain their needs. Finding a good job is not always easy. Sometimes you just don't know where to begin your search. First you want to figure out what types of jobs interest you. Then figure out your availability. What days of the week, Fulltime or part-time? The Internet has many places where you can search for local job listings. There are lots of websites that you can find great jobs such as Hotjob.com or Career builder.com. They also give you the option to send your resume right through the email, which is very convenient. Or you could even get addresses, phone numbers, or fax number. Also if you pick up your cities daily newspaper you can find many job listings in your area. They can provide you with the same information names and numbers. Finding a job this way is a little quicker than the Internet but it’s just not as advanced as online. While out getting a newspaper usually by them you can find the employment guide, this guide shows you local listings that are hiring immediately. Sometimes there is a magazine called career search, which it shows local jobs to. You can also call a phone number in the magazine, which will give you the option of immediate interviews. There are other options such as going to employment offices. You can call and set up an appointment, or just walk in and set one. When you go to your appointment they will have you came in and answer a few questions about what you are looking for and what they think is good for you. When you come in you may do some basic test, depending on the job you want. This is so you and the employers know what you are capable of doing for that company. Any skills and experience will come in handy now. Even if you don't have much experience they can find you an entry-level job.  Nowadays finding job is really difficult, yes you may get a job but the only problem is that the compensation that you will receive is just too small to support yourself how much more if you’re married and has the family to sustained. It would be very difficult that’s why many people choose to go outside the country to earn a big amount of money. They intend to sacrifice their love ones because they love them and they don’t want their family to suffer in poverty. Yes we did study and do our duty as a student but it would not be easy as parents tend to think about us. Our parents did a lot of hardship in terms of working so hard just to let their children go to school but they have put in their minds that things would not be working as we want it. It needs time, patience and effort. Like me I am a working student who prefers to leave my parents in Bohol. So here I am trying to do things properly even if things go wrong and even if how rough my life was meant to be. I know life would not be easy as what we intend to expect but let’s just have faith and believe in our self that we can do this. It is just a test on how strong we are in facing problems like this. My duty now is to become a good student who will take responsibilities. I may not know what the GOD has planned for me all I know id that He will never leave me good times and in bad times. There are different kinds of parents the first type parents are parents who are really forceful in their children’s pursuit of first class professions doctors or lawyers. They do not hide their expectations. They pressure the children to do well in school and unless results are stellar, they are punished. They need their children to be the best in their community to preserve their name and reputation. That was more important than the children’s happiness or satisfaction.

            What I hated nowadays are those companies who don’t follow the minimum wages of their employee which is really a sad thing to know. I know some companies it’s either small or big factory who still don’t care of the proper rules in giving salary. There is no justice for this thing. I personally feel the feeling of receiving low salary because even if you work so hard still your salary never increases which is a big disappointments for us. The minimum wage must be raised today because the cost of living has gone up drastically. Education is essential today, and that price tag has increased drastically in the past twenty years as well. People should not have to fight for equal pay for equal work. Companies should be forced to pay their workers what they deserve, and that is more than minimum wage is now. With our new technology and the technology in the future work is harder and more complicated. A minimum wage increase would raise the wages of many workers and increase benefits to those disadvantaged workers. Because the cost of living has sky rocketed, it has become almost impossible to raise a family on a minimum wage job. A person living on his or her own cannot survive on minimum wages especially if they have family to sustain. Even those parents who are both working have the problem in sustain the family needs how much more if none of the family doesn’t have any job which is a big no,no. Nowadays entering in a relationship and become committed is not a simple thing to do except for those who are rich already. But consider those people who have received low wages and have the family to sustain it will be a big headache for both parents. As welfare reform forces poorer families to rely on their earnings from low paying jobs, I believe an increased minimum wage increase is likely to have a profound effect on reducing poverty. An increase would also encourage people to go get jobs. They would feel that they are getting fair pay for their work. As technology gets better and more complicated people need to know more and work harder. By raising minimum wage you are encouraging a more educated and skilled person to come work for you.

            One also of the big disappointments that I see in our society is the irresponsible parents. I think there will be no poor people if they just try to work hard and not to depend in the government. That’s why many parents doesn’t have any job because they only depend on the help of other people why just work on your own and try to change yourself for the better future. The most important relationship for all beings is that with their parents. Through this relationship, a child receives love, support, and learns important values, their ethics, morals and methods of handling life. Unfortunately, many parents do not understand the importance of this parent-child relationship. Many parents do not realize that most of society’s problems stem mostly from what we learn when we were young and also what our children are learning from us in their developmental years. Most parents do not realize that their inability to commit to good parenting techniques causes serious detriment to the lives and wellbeing of their children. Irresponsible parents practice multiple forms of abuse and neglect, including abandonment, physical and emotional abuse and or neglect.The good parents should be caring and responsible. Nobody wants to have a parent who does not care the life of his children. Some of the parents gave birth to the baby, but does not love and educate him, and they are definitely not good parents. The conduct of the irresponsible parent can deeply affect their child personalities. If they did not put enough care to their kid, the child will feel lonely, left behind and not being loved as he grows up, most likely, he will not have an optimistic view of his life. In my mind, the good parents devout their love to their children lives every day. They should be very caring about my health and academic performances. To me, the ideal parent should give personal education to their child. Since parents are the first teacher in a child life, they are responsible to teach me honesty, disciplines, diligence, self-restriction and generosity in my early life as a child. These ethics will provide an extremely important foundation for one success in the future. My ideal parents should be strict on these educations because rigorous rules and trainings can always improve one ability as a person and make him outstanding. A responsible parent should give their child limited freedom, because if one gets unlimited freedom, one can be easily corrupted by laziness and happiness before they learn to be self-restrictive and discipline or especially children. You might say that my mind is crazy, but in today competitive society, it will only make the child’s life much easier as his step into the real society. My parents teach me to do my rule as person who has dignity and respect.

            But of course using our knowledge and skill may help as succeeds in every way. Thinking like a technopreneur may be one of the best strategies to have. Becoming like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates is a dream comes true for me if ever I will be that successful like them. Brilliant minds with brilliant vision in the future have the big potential to change the world. Success is to believe in you.   Success is facing challenges that come your way with the attitude “I will endure and overcome”.   It is being able, when you feel like giving up, delving into your innermost self to find strength and courage.   It is being able to wake up to a new day, content with what lies ahead.   It is being happy with who you are and what you have achieved.   It is the power of positive thinking. Success to some may be measured in money or possessions.   A true successful person is one that can look at accomplishments, remembering the endurance needed to get there, and realize although times were tough, they never gave up.   Having money, a big house, and a fancy car doesn’t mean you are successful.   It just means that you make money.

MEETING 2C (REFLECTION) -Alternative mindset

People have diverse way of thinking in every angle of situation weather simple or complicated way of action. Mindset is an assumptions or   expectations which is held by an individual or more people or a group of people that established or create a powerful severe within these people or group to accept or  adapt to a prior behaviors, choices or tools. This spectacle is also sometimes described as standard and it is often difficult to lessen its effects upon analysis and decision making processes.

 Many people has a philosophy I life that and it may be seen as their mindset that keeps in each of one of us. People might able to think differently depending on what they really believe for. There are two kinds of mindset the usual mindset and the alternative mindset from that term we can identify the difference of the said mindset. We can identify it by what we have experience in the past happenings that we have been through. As an ordinary people we can define usual mindset as what our parents have always thinking for our future. To our dear parents they have the usual mindset that they will sent their children to the school and after graduating they should find a good job that has big compensation. It is a usual mindset of our parents but we all knows that finding job is such a challenging part as we live in the real world of people. Many people compete just to find a better job it is like selling yourself to be presentable and intelligent just to impress them. Nowadays finding job is really difficult, yes you may get a job but the only problem is that the compensation that you will receive is just too small to support yourself how much more if you’re married and has the family to sustained. It would be very difficult that’s why many people choose to go outside the country to earn a big amount of money. They intend to sacrifice their love ones because they love them and they don’t want their family to suffer in poverty.                 Many kinds of mindset has made a big rule of many people, different mindset helps to develop our personal thinking and made us realize a better belief. Alternative mindset is one of the important rational ways of thinking. It is a proper mindset that many people should have and understand. It is a practical way of thinking what is good and what the best for among of us. It nourished and awakens each one of us to think properly. According to Carol Dweck, individuals can be placed on a range according to their unspoken views of where ability comes from. Some believe their success is based on distinctive ability these are said to have a fixed theory of intelligence of fixed mindset. Others, who believe their success is based on having opposite mindset, which involves hard work, learning, training and perseverance are said to have a growth or an incremental theory of intelligence or growth mindset. Using their minds in a smarter way will really benefit themselves. Individuals may not necessarily be aware of their own mindset, but their mindset can still be distinguished based on their behavior. It is especially evident in their reaction to failure. We may have different behavior but it only depends on how you will use it and think in a better way. In alternative mindset students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just usual or fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that's that, and then their goal becomes to look smart all the time and never look dumb. In a growth mindset students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don't necessarily think everyone's the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it. Individuals with a alternative mindset are more likely to continue working hard despite setbacks. Hard working really helps in developing our self to have a better life and comfortable living. Having been in many years of studying we tend to mold our self to achieve our failures and gets determined to continue. Individuals' theories of intelligence can be affected by subtle environmental cues. For example, children given praise such as "good job, you're very smart" are much more likely to develop a fixed mindset, whereas if given compliments like "good job, you worked very hard" they are likely to develop a growth mindset. The defensive mindset, on the other hand, is self-protective and self-deceptive. When this mindset is active, people or organizations only seek out information that will protect them. Truth can be shut out when it is seen as threatening. The defensive mindset may lead to learning based on false assumptions or prevent learning altogether according to Argyris.

PAPER 3 (Y4iT)

            At first I don’t have any idea about Y4IT. I’ve only heard it during our meeting in Field Trip and seminars. My classmates told me that it is a big event for many students especially IT students who have brilliant ideas about the innovation of technology. Different schools and different students will compete each other to have the trophy and will bring the name of their school.

            As I’ve heard it was really a big event and there will lots of students who will attend and get interested of the said event. According to what I’ve searched in Wikipedia Y4IT Established in 2003, the Youth Congress on Information Technology (formerly known as the Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology) commonly known as Y4iT which is an annual information technology event in the Philippines, organized by the UP System Information Technology Foundation (UP SITF). Aimed primarily at college students, professionals, educators, IT experts and enthusiasts, Y4iT is an enabling event for today's youth and aspires to recognize young Filipinos as key drivers in the dynamic IT industry. Since its launching, Y4iT has gone on to be at the forefront of information technology gathering events in the Philippines. Various relevant and exciting IT topics are presented and discussed. The event is co-organized by the Y4iT Volunteer Corps (YVC). According to its history Y4iT’s precursor, the 2003 National IT Student Congress held on September 2 and 3 at the University Theater in UP Diliman, Quezon City, attracted at least 5,000 participants from all over the nation. Attendance has been steadily increasing, benefiting from an increasing number of lectures.

            Of course all of us are excited for the upcoming Field Trip in Manila. It will be my first time to go there and I hope that I will enjoy each activity that we perform. Since it is my first time I’m sure I will be more interesting to see what Manila has. Manila is the capital and second largest city of the Philippines. It is one of the sixteen cities which, along with the municipality of Pateros, make up Metro Manila, the National Capital Region, whose overall population is around 12 million. The city of Manila is located on the eastern shore of Manila Bay and is bordered by the cities of Navotas and Caloocan to the north; Quezon City and San Juan to the northeast; Mandaluyong to the east; Makati to the southeast, and Pasay to the south. It has a total population of 1,652,171 according to the 2010 census and is the second most populous city in the Philippines, behind Quezon City. The populace inhabit an area of only 3,855 hectares (9,525.91 acres) making Manila arguably the most densely populated city in the world as what I’ve searched the web. Many people live in Manila that’s why you can deny the fact that it already became a populated city.

            Because we will be able to attend the biggest event which is the Y4iT our professor has decided to let us think for an idea that might be useful to everybody. So we have started to do our task and start to think for a good idea first we thought that each group will present only one idea but unfortunately each of the member of the group should have also a presentation so we changed our plan and have brain storming together with my group mates. Finally we’ve meet to our professor and check each of our work and unluckily we failed to present a good idea. When I presented my idea our professor get amaze with my idea because it is resourceful and can really contribute a big help to many people.

            I am expecting something good to this event Y4It this coming September and we hope it will be fine and successful. Since it is an event for presenting ideas and innovating new technology I am expecting that it will be more fun and interesting to know. From that said activity maybe we can achieve something and gain knowledge towards the presentors. Success comes from ideas until it was develop and build. Success means achievement, accomplishment, victory, and triumph. Success, no matter how big or small the goals are, can only be grasped through the attaining of those goals. Success must also be sought after. For anyone to have success, they must fight and strive for it. If a student from a specified school worked her way up the ladder through hard work and sacrifice, she would be a success. On the other hand, if a student had a friend who got her a job at the top, she would not be looked upon as a success. There must be a desire for improvement and a commitment to achieve success. It cannot be handed out or paid for. If a student worked hard on homework, read the material, and did well on the test, they would be successful. The desire to work hard and make a good grade produced his success. If he'd been given the answers before the test, and he scored well, he could not be a success. His lack of willingness to work for the grade led to the lack of success. Success can also be reached by achievement of goals. In order to accomplish a goal, one must accomplish smaller goals that lead up to the main achievement. For instance, if a football team achieved its aim to win their district and the state championship, they would be successful. On the other hand, if the team set out to have a winning record, and failed, the season would not be considered successful. 

            So we have also some student who was accepted by our professor regarding with their idea and all were hoping is that their ideas will be appreciated by the judges. Hoping things to happen is a positive way of thinking.

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

            This is the first time that I was able to watched the said movie it is really amazing because it brought back the history of how computer have started from nothing until it evolves. This movie showed the progression of the computer since the 1970’s. It also shows the competition between IBM. Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs. One of the most outstanding people is Steve Jobs who is an American entrepreneur, marketer and inventor who was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc.Since then Steve Jobs is a different person for me because he see things differently as what others have seen. It’s like he’s having his own world with unique identities and has its high level of perspective. Steve Jobs was a 21-year-old college dropout living with his parents in Los Altos, Calif. He is not a good rule model as a student but only does have its own way of thinking which leads him into success. Not every one of us will be given a gifted talent like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates they are an amazing creation that has given a big contribution in world of technology. I can’t even see myself in them while watching the movie it’s like an impossible things if I compare myself to them. They are damn good genius people that have a brilliant mind that will change the world.

            From being a dropout college student to a successful entrepreneur maybe we have wonder how they did all of that staff which is really remarkable. When he is still in college he already had a good friend Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne they became partners in crime and close of each other. They would just have hang out in the garage and make some computer staff. Many things did Steve Jobs have been through he also had his love life but unfortunately it doesn’t work well until his girlfriend got pregnant and things don’t work as they want it. Having on complicated things is a normal thing that a person will be experienced. Steve Jobs is also a human who falls in love, get angry and can be a good friend too. From the movie that I’ve watched it gives a real life perspective of the struggles they faced in their personal lives and the struggles they went through within their companies. Having too many problems will really measure how strong you are to face all the challenges that Jobs encounter. Bill gates is one also of the outstanding person that you will ever know he also started from scratch until the day come that he reach his goal in the world of Microsoft. Jobs started constructing computers with his partner, Wozniak, in a small garage, while Gates began building computer software in a motel warehouse. They been through different company and came up with different ideas. Jobs became more successful than Gates in the beginning when he created the Apple Company and was making new computers almost every year. Although Steve Jobs had great marketing skills, he treated his employees horrible. One also of the things that a employee will consider is the behavior of their master. Once you have fail to communicate with them and treated them badly will expect that things will get into difficulty because manners also have a big rule in holding and managing big companies. The employers worked extremely long hours and when he got mad he would take it out on them which is not a good thing to follow. Sometimes when a person get angry it will be also hard to control it because even I have been in that situation. It’s hard to keep emotions especially when you’re totally angry. Gates was a lot more laid back with his employees. Throughout the movie Gates and Jobs tried their hardest to make their companies better than the others. Apple was more focused on creating the computers themselves and Microsoft was eager to design the actual software and hard drives that were being put into the computers. At one point in the movie Bill Gates saw what Jobs’ was doing and wanted to make his prototype his own. He convinced Steve Jobs to let him work for Apple only later to find out that Gates stole the computer information and redesigned it to create his own computer and sell it to other marketers. After stealing Job’s ideas, Bill Gates became one of the richest men in the world. At one point in the career of Apple, Steve Jobs was fired only to return a few years later with an attitude adjustment. In the end, both companies became very successful but neither was able to gain each other’s full trust and merge into one large company.

            Being been through all of efficacious in business there are a lot of things to consider. Maybe we have speculation in how Steve Jobs transform into a very successful technopreneur. In spite of becoming the CEO, co-founder and chairman in Apple Inc. and made a remarkable creation in the fields of computer. He is also widely recognized as a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer revolution and for his influential career in the computer and consumer electronics fields, transforming one industry after another, from computers and smartphones to music and movies but his career is still not yet ended because he also became co-founded and served as chief executive of pixar animation studious he became a member of the board of directors of the walt disney company in 2006, when Disney acquired Pixar. He also played a role in introducing the laserwriter one of the first widely available laser printers, to the market. Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox PARC's mouse-driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Apple Lisa and, a year later, the Macintosh.

            If you want to become a successful technopreneur like Steve Jobs you must also consider factors to develop your skills. To succeed, technopreneurs need to track their trails, from starting their research to commercialization of their products. Not doing so will see good ideas end up being non-starters. Steve Jobs is just an ordinary student at first who decided to enter the world of business. In fact he also applied for loans in many company and been rejected because he doesn’t look like a business man so he try to change his physical appearance and then fortunately as he used his ability of being wise he was able to get loan. Everything started from small pieces until you try and work for it. There are many things to consider are they call it Anatomy of a Technopreneur.A technology entrepreneur like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates possess some extraordinary qualities to succeed. Firstly being a visionary, it means that seeing things other human don’t see. Thinks about how to make a new system that works, instead of griping about the system that’s not working. Has a single minded focus on solving the problem he’s chosen to tackle. Willing to explore multiple possibilities to get to an optimal solution. I’ve already meet those kind of personality and for me it’s hard to have bonding with them because we have different likes and needs it’s like you’re talking to different diversion. They are the ones who are genius in terms of intellectual knowledge. Second is to become a learner because an active learner who has a thirst for knowledge. Sets time aside to pick up more skills. Take things apart, even breaks them, to understand concepts. They are the intelligent person who seeks to find answers in their questions. It’s like they can’t sleep if they don’t get the things that they want to know. A learner knows his or her weakness and they try to change and face their weakness to overcome those difficulties by that they learn more. Third is hustler, sells ideas and buy collaborators. Identifies lesson that comes with being a startup entrepreneur and moves on. Speaks with confidence because he believes in what he’s doing. If you really love the things that you do and believe that you can do it there’s really a big possibilities that you will succeed. If you were able to find the field that have fit in you then try and continue to innovate until you get the key to your dream. Fourth is systematic knows to how to prioritize among the multitude of tasks to attend to. Has a method to the madness, a personal system that helps them to get things done. Having a process to your work is a big help in your business because by that you will able to fix things right. Applying method and backup plan will lessen the hassle in your work. It’s good to be prepared and be ready always. Fifth is Passionate, obsesses over ideas, both as grand plans and as minute details. Everything matters and does things differently because of this passion. Being passionate with your work determines the real you and the things that you really want to do. Sixth driven, goes and changes things because he can. Driven by constant discontent with the status quo and looking for better ways to do things and get better results. Lastly is grounded, seeks balance between pursuing insane targets and being emotionally grounded. Understands the needs for a support system, especially among family and friends.

2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur? 

            Being a technopreneur you have to be much focused and love what you’re doing especially in the world of business. Derived from the combination of two english words, "Technology" and "Entrepreneurship," the term "Technopreneurship" arose within Singaporean culture to describe individual whose entrepreneurial endeavors focus on a technology centered enterprise.Being an entrepreneur is those people who enter into new and pioneering ventures. If you want to become an entrepreneur, you must be a business minded person and your only mission is to start and own up your business. On the other hand, technopreneurship is the same as entrepreneurship. The only thing to consider is the technology that technopreneurs are equipped. There businesses are always in the field of technology. Some technopreneurs are always persistent of doing their own technology just to sell their ideas to different companies or establishments that needs them. Like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates they became a great technopreneurship in the fields of technology they were able to handle their character as a remarkable one. They became well known to many people or even around the world. Everywhere you go there is always computer that became part of our everyday life. Even the kids nowadays are very disposed to in different types of technology like IPods, IPhone, laptop and so on. People adopts in a rapid way of living technology because without those technopreneur technology don’t exist.

            They have the huge part in our society which really helps to propel the economy of different country. Technopreneurship it is a simple entrepreneurship in a technology intensive context. Being a technoperneur you need to have discipline to yourself and balance you mind through different things that you may encounter. Maybe someday one of my classmates will become a successful technoperneur who knows. We have different life to settle and different plan from GOD. We may not know it but I know it will be good for us. It may not be easy as what we expect but by all the courage and challenges we go through there is still hope. Our professor explains us all about technopreneurship. Technopreneurs distinguishes themselves through their ability to accumulate and manage knowledge, as well as their ability to mobilized resources to achieve a specified business or social goal. It is a process of merging technology prowess and entrepreneurial talent and skills. It is someone who perceives an opportunity and creates an organization to pursue it. A person who undertakes risks that has the chance of profit. On the other hand entrepreneurship is a way of thinking and acting that is opportunity obsessed, holistic approach and leadership balanced for the purpose of wealth creation. Searches for change , responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity. Innovation is the specific tool of entrepreneurs, the means by which they exploits change as an opportunity for a different business or a different service. Entrepreneurship pursuit of opportunity without regard to the resources currently under one’s control.

            Each one of us has the dream that anyone wants to achieve as we continue to fight for our victory. I think none of us do not have a dream for themselves as we grow we learn to have needs for our future. We learn to change our mindset of the usual things in our minds from a kid who don’t even know how hard life is until a well grown mature person. We tend to go to the school to study for a long years because we have that determination to finish and help our parents and provide their needs. From grade school up to college we tend to survive because of our desires. Dreams are what make this world what it is today. Entering in schools and beginning my family caused me to put my hopes and dreams on hold. To dream is to live and we dream in our personal life. Dreaming in advance of what we want in life assures that we are alive. My hopes and dreams are to for fill my expectations of completing my degree and to overcome my fears and concerns, My expectations of being a college student and completing my degree are very simple. I expect to do very well academically and succeed in completing my degree. My hopes are to retain the information learned and to refresh what has been taught earlier so that I may utilize the information in the future. To display growth in development of a desirable learning objective while spending time with the curriculum. Furthermore, my expectations include improving and developing problem solving skills, to realize and develop more knowledge in computer and writing to be better prepared with skills to function successfully in a diverse society. My fears and concerns are not being able to complete my work successfully due to time constraints and because I am currently a working student and it is a little bit hard. What I fear the most is that would I become a successful business women, would I achieve and survive the problems that may came? Those are the things that keeps running in my mind. Other fears and concerns that come to mind are will I fit in, commitment of time, attending class with younger students and will it take up much of my time. Finally, after weighing these expectations, fears and concerns I thought of my hopes and dreams and decided to go for. I will do my best to give one hundred percent while continuing my responsibility as a daughter and as a matured woman in an effort to support my family as I have always done. I hope and I dream therefore, I know that I am alive. It is true that many dreams may not come to pass, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel if there is courage and belief in one’s self. Dream is something that all of us need to have. It is our vision. Dream is what you want to do for your future. I believe that having a great dream, is a must to us. And I have a big dream. As a individual we have personal passion especially in a job, if I were be able to give a chance to have a work it will be to become an technopreneur. I know it’s an impossible thing to achieve but who knows someday the destiny will just surprise you.

 I know it is not simple at all. But I know nothing is impossible by the GOD’s will. This is why I came to this world.  I do not know when or how I am going to achieve this kind of goal but one thing I know for sure it will not be easy. I am constantly studying in school right now. I cannot give up even if I fail. There is a saying that failure is the greatest teacher. I know in order to pursue my dream, I will face failure. This cannot be stopped. Even Albert Einstein and Sir Isaacs Newton faced failure when they are trying to create a great formula that is remained to be used till today. I used to fail many times actually I feel like I am the most moron person in the world. Everything just collapses and then hope is lost. I mean everything in my study although I’m not good as the other, not smart as the other but I know in myself that there is something good that awaits me. If you just try to work hard and believe that you can achieve something then maybe success is possible. Dreaming to become a technopreneur is like reaching the moon and counting all the stars. But what if one day I will be given a try out, maybe I will be inspired by Bill Gates and follow his footsteps in the world of business. He is an amazing person who has a brilliant mind that everyone desires the most. For real I can’t even see myself to Bill Gates or to compare myself to him because I don’t have the ability to be like him. I’m just an ordinary girl with ordinary talent. But still I will try my best to be a good technopreneur. I see myself as a technopreneur of being a successful woman whose goal is to help people with my inventions. Sounds impossible but yes I will be that successful woman in the future because that’s how hilarious I am in imagining things. It is not bad to dream big as long as my heart is willing and my mind is wide to meditate. Inventions help every living creature in the world from the smallest up to the largest one. Technology will change the face of the world. It starts with the simple idea until it was developed and builds. I just imagining myself in front of many people and receive a loud applause and recognitions. It will be one of the unforgettable moments in my life if ever.

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not? 

We have different paths through our future, different roads and different challenges to face on. Life is a meaningful adventure and beautiful but not always easy, it has problems, too, and the challenge lies in facing them with courage, letting the beauty of life act like a balm, which makes the pain bearable, during trying times, by providing hope. Happiness, sorrow, victory, defeat, day-night are the two sides of the coin. Similarly life is full of moments of joy, pleasure, success and comfort punctuated by misery, defeat, failures and problems. There is no human being on Earth, strong, powerful, wise or rich, who has not experienced, struggle, suffering or failure. All of us because by that we learn and we fight for our goals. . Experiencing difficulties are just a measurement on how strong and productive you are. No doubt, life is beautiful and every moment a celebration of being alive, but one should be always ready to face adversity and challenges. A person who has not encountered difficulties in life can never achieve success. As we go to school we have each purpose and intention.

Thomas Carlyle once said, “Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you will see farther.” I strongly believe that if one plans on achieving his or her aspirations, setting goals is a very important step. Having goals not only gives you a clear focus on things,but it also helps you to organize your plans by allowing you to give yourself time limits and boundaries. That is why I try to set goals for myself routinely, whether it is just for one day, or for the rest of my life. One goal that I work hard at daily is to do well in college. I try to focus myself to do right things as a student and take action with my personal problems. I sacrificed the time and days without my family in my side. I sacrifices to not see them for a long time. The reason I do this is because I plan on helping my parents to have a better life. All my life I have experienced a total breakdown from my neither parents it’s either financially nor physical. Since childhood I have already awaken my mind in the poverty and saw the reality in the world. I’ve been in a long adventure before I got this opportunity that I’m having right now. I been a girl with a simple dream and that is to finish my study and help my parents. That’s the only thing that keeps me stronger and always running in my mind. Every time I fall I always put in my mind that my parents and my siblings are waiting for me in return and expecting good in me. Even if I got pressured with the situation that I’m facing right now I know I can handle all of this. Going to college alone would be a major achievement for my family and I, because I will be the first person in my family to attend college. Another goal I have is to get a college degree in Information Technology. I plan to take my four years of college and get into a business as a startup. I plan to get good grades throughout my college career. I think I'm going to stay in the Davao area when I’m applying for a job as a officer or a developer. I plan to achieve this by not giving up. The first thing my mom tells me is to set my mind to something, never give up and it may take time but you will get there. My goals are very important to reach because without them, my life goals will not come true. Immediately after I graduate, I want to start my career as a business woman. By age 25, after gaining some experience as a business woman or a developre, I would like to help first my parents.. This is because I want them to live in a fine way of living not as rich as the other but a simple family who stays together. And to be good at what I do, I need some familiarity in that line of work, among other things. 

Difficulties test the courage, patience, perseverance and true character of a human being. Adversity and hardships make a person strong and ready to face the challenges of life with equanimity. There is no doubt that there can be no gain without pain. It is only when one toils and sweats it out that success is nourished and sustained. It’s nice to know that you achieve something because you know in yourself you work for it as hard as you know. Thus, life is and should not be just a bed of roses; thorns are also a part of it and should be accepted by us just as we accept the beautiful side of life. The thorns remind one of how success and happiness can be evasive and thus not to feel disappointed and disheartened rather remember that the pain of thorns is short-lived, and the beauty of life would soon overcome the prick of thorns. Like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates they have also been in many obstacles in their life before they’ve got their positions. There is no essay exit in achieving you’re goal because at first you should encounter the hardships and sacrifices in life. Those, who are under the impression that life is a bed of roses are disillusioned soon and become victims of depression and frustration. One who faces difficulties with courage and accepts success without letting it go to its head is the one who experience real happiness, contentment and peace in life. Those, who think, that good times last forever, easily succumb to pressure during difficulties. They do not put in required hard work and efforts because they break down easily. A person with weak self-determination will surely fails to succeed.

            You can take the example of a student, who burns the mid night oil, makes sacrifices and resists temptations so that he can perform well. Similarly, a successful executive has to face the ups and downs of life, not forgetting that life is a mix of success and failure, joy and sorrow. If he or she loses hope during difficult times, he would not achieve success and would be replaced by others. Even the strongest Kings and Emperors have had their cup of woes. Because GOD never had the favoritism of all the people wither rich or poor. GOD sees us equally by his yes. Life has not been a bed of roses for them. The adage ‘Uneasy lays the head that wears the crown’ has been rightly used for people, who are successful and are enjoying power and authority. To sum up, life is beautiful just as roses but it has challenges which are like thorns and have to be faced and overcome by all. Those, who accept these, challenges and succeed, are the ones, who know how to live life in its true sense. Thus, enjoy life but also be prepared to bear the pricks of pain.

            But if I will be asking If I would take the same path with Steve Jobs took well my answer would be no. We have different passion in life it’s either simple or to make things complicated. It only depends on you. Being a technopreneur is a big help or an achieving thing to fulfill with because by that you can change your life and change what the people have seen in you in the past. Maybe they have insulted you of your ability or talent that you have but it was before. I am not smart as Steve Jobs or as wise as Bill Gates but one thing for sure I have my own way in achieving my life. I know it would be not easy as what I have expected before because I know that being successful will first encounter all the hardship and troubles. But never push too much yourself from the things you want to achieve, never let our self-set goals permanently because it may end up to discouragement and disappointments. Whenever we learn, we are also beneficial to ourselves. The lessons of life are so valuable and worthy trying to learn. However, I believe that with those above reason, the most important lessons of life will be somewhere outside. They have already been for us to learn. Overall, decision making is an important factor in your day to day routine as well as your future. I’ve learned how lying can have tremendous consequences and can have a “snowball’ effect. I try to do the best at everything I do and go through each day with integrity. Mistakes I have made and how I have handled them have shaped me into who I am today and for that I am thankful for.
